The first post on joshblog.cc, continued from robshep.net

So if you're joining me for the first time, I'd like to welcome you. I would say that a good percentage of you reading this found out about me from robshep.com, and if you didn't I would highly suggest that you head over there now! Rob Shepherd is my good friend and co-worker at Waters Edge Church. For some, you may have been enticed to read this from a twitter update, or a Facebook status. You may have been introduced to me by my amazing, and smokin' hot wife Susan Fowler but whatever the reason, don't stop! Please keep reading!

Now lets be honest; there are a lot of blogs out there. Tons of them. People pour their hearts and souls out for just about anything. If you can think of it, it's out there. Everything from guns and ammo to pop culture to, well... you guessed it... underwater basket weaving. Don't believe me? Check this out. If you've taken the time to read my blog, you're probably wandering "What's the Josh Blog all about?" I thought you'd never ask. Allow me to explain.

1.) Life- My blog is about life. Life is great...most of the time. But sometimes life sucks. Here, you'll find out exactly what's going on in my life.

2.) God- Is he real? What or who is God? Does it matter? Is God up to something with me? I feel like I could answer these questions, but honestly, that doesn't matter for you. What matters is if you can answer them. I hope what I write would cause you to ask the right questions.

3.) Fun- Life is no fun unless you make it... well... fun! I love to have fun, and I love to make things fun. You'll probably learn a lot of fun facts, see a lot of fun pictures, and watch a lot of fun videos.

4.) Finance$- Not quite a year ago, my wife and I became debt free using a simple plan by a guy named Dave Ramsey. He pretty much gives the same advice that your grandmother would give you about your finances, only he keeps his teeth in. This guy is for real. Susan and I would have never been able to do it without him, which leads me to my next one.

5.) Marriage- If you're hoping I'm gonna give sound advice about how to have an amazingly perfect marriage, you're wrong. Bad wrong. Me and my wife have the same struggles you and your spouse have. I'm gonna share the good, the bad, and the ugly, and in doing so hope that you can share in our successes, and learn from our mistakes.

6.) Church- One of my favorite things to talk about. Why? Well, I work at a church, and I'm obsessed with changing the way people think about church, and ultimately God. I'm gonna talk about what works, what doesn't work, different kinds of church, why we do church, and why it's important to engage in conversations about these things. This should be fun.

7.) Music- It's the soundtrack to life, and I love it all. While I'm picky about whether or not it's done correctly, I'm not nearly as picky on what it is. I like almost all genres, and am almost positive you would think I'm a schizo if you saw the crazy variety of music on my iPod.

8.) Physical Health- I suck at this one, so you might be dumber for taking health advice from me, but I'm a work in progress, and as of yet, have lost around 18 lbs since January. We'll navigate through this uncharted territory (at least on my end) together.

9.) Pop Culture- I love looking at top news sites, TMZ, new trends, new styles, and the whole 9 yards. I think that if your goal is to have any kind of influence at all, you need to know what's going on in the world.

10.) Gadgets- Ok, ok, so I'm just a wanna be first-adapter, but man do I love reading up on this stuff! I'd buy anything as long as it's shiny and made by Apple. You'll hear all about the new ipads, i-whatevers, and then all the other stuff. (Yes I'm insinuating that no one cares about anything techy unless its make by Apple.)

Well that's it. If any of this is stuff you like to read about, glad to have you here. If this bores the crap out of you, it's been nice knowing you, and I appreciate you giving my blog a shot. Hope to see you back here soon. You should expect to see posts from me early in the morning.

Ciao!

  2. Nice job Josh! Keep it up, nothing like being able to put what's on your mind out into the interwebs. God can use all kinds of outlets to change people's lives, even something as simple as our own personal blogs.
